Selina Antigua is a hotel with a great atmosphere and ideal for meeting other travelers. The rooms are beautiful with a nice view of volcano Agua. The hotel is beautiful with many facilities including a swimming pool and a pool table. Every morning they make sure that you can enjoy a great breakfast. The location very good because everything is close.

Maya Papaya is a must and is rated with a 9.4 on Booking. The rooms here are neat, beds are very nice and for those who spend the night in a bunk bed these are nice and firm. It is a small, cozy, clean and quiet hostel that is highly recommended! In addition, the general area is really cool to relax and get in touch with other travelers.

In San Marcos you should not expect fancy hotels with a lot of luxury. Casa Madera is a simple hostel with neat rooms. If you stay on the top floor you have a view of the lake. The staff is very nice and the location is great, because you are located closely to the center. This is not a party hostel so you can enjoy the silence in the evening. If you really want something more luxurious, El Dragon Hotel is a place to stay for you, this is the best hotel in San Marcos.

The first night we stayed in El Portal De Champey, because in 5 minutes you are at the main entrance of the Semuc Champey National Park. The complex is very beautiful, because it is located in the middle of the jungle on a river. The cottages are neat and clean. You can also arrange all excursions plus arrange your transport to your next destination.

El Retiro Lanquin

After staying in El Portal we went to El Retiro, because this hostel is built more to relax. It is beautifully situated on the water and is ideal for relaxing with your hammock in front of your door. It is also a great place to meet other travelers and to do something fun with them (pools, yoga, volleyball). We have booked our follow-up trip here.
