Mexico itinerary: How many weeks do you need?
For this Mexico itinerary, you need at least 2 weeks, if you have the option we recommend doing it in more days so that you can stay longer at a destination that you like. You can also add destinations to this Mexico itinerary to the extent of your travel route to 3 or 4 weeks. Our itinerary for Mexico is a good mix between relaxation and awesome activities.
The advantage of traveling in Yucatan is that the distances are not that big and the transportation in Mexico is very good so you don’t lose much time traveling. If you want to spend more time in Yucatán or Mexico it is worth investigating to go to Mahahual, Merida, Campeche, Palenque and San Cristobal de las Casas. We haven’t visited these places due to lack of time.
Transport for Mexico itinerary
If you are going to travel through Mexico, you have the choice between traveling by public transport or by car. Both options have advantages and disadvantages, the choice for which you go is personal. Both choices are good and safe.
Public transport in Mexico is very well organized. The largest bus company is ADO and you can find all information on their website. Tickets are easy to buy at the bus station. Renting a car in Mexico is a more luxurious option that gives you more freedom so you can go wherever you want. Isla Holbox
This was our favorite destination in Mexico and we love to share our experience with you so that you will be as enthusiastic about Isla Holbox as we are! Isla Holbox cannot be missing from your Mexico itinerary. We initially thought to stay here for 3 nights and ended up staying here for 8 nights. Isla Holbox is an island paradise where everything goes a little slower. You can relax here with often the beach and the sea all for yourself, which is really special. You can make beautiful beach hikes that can last the entire day, encountering different Flora and fauna along the way. For example, you will encounter flamingos.
